APCO APPLAUDS LIEBERMAN AND MCCAIN
July 21, 2010, Washington, DC - The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International today praised Senators Joe Lieberman (I - Conn.), chairman of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs Committee and John McCain (R - Ariz.), former chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, for their bold introduction of bi-partisan legislation, as a companion to H.R. 5081, which directs the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to allocate the D Block to public safety. Senators Lieberman and McCain's legislation also authorizes the funding to build and maintain a nationwide interoperable public safety broadband network.
