APCO ANNOUNCES 2009 LEADERSHIP IN POLICY AWARD WINNERS TO BE HONORED APRIL 7
March 19, 2009, Alexandria, Va. - The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International will hold its Fifth Annual Public Safety Communications Leadership in Policy Awards Dinner on April 7 at the Fairmont in Washington, D.C. and present its annual awards for excellence in public safety communications policy.
The APCO International Annual Public Safety Communications Leadership in Policy Awards Dinner is the association's premier event which brings together policy leaders within the public safety communications community and honors those who have vigorously worked to create, advocate, and promote public safety communications policy.
The 2009 winners are:
- The Honorable Janet Napolitano, secretary, U.S. Department of Homeland Security - Leadership in Advancing Communications Policy
- Senator Daniel K. Inouye, Hawaii - Leadership in Legislative Service
- Erika Olsen, deputy bureau chief, Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau, FCC - Leadership in Regulatory Service
- Craig Jorgensen, project director, APCO Project 25-34 - Leadership in Advocacy
- Chris Essid, director of the Office of Emergency Communications, Department of Homeland Security - Special Recognition Award
