Candidate APCO ANS 3.103.1-200x: Minimum Training Standards for Public Safety Telecommunicator
This APCO standard identifies the minimum training requirements for Public Safety Telecommunicators. This position is typically charged with receiving, processing, transmitting, and conveying public safety information to dispatchers, law enforcement officers, fire fighters, emergency medical and emergency management personnel. This document seeks to define training in certain knowledge, skills, and abilities to be provided to telecommunicators by the agency.
The Initial public review and comment period ended October 26, 2009. Comments have been reviewed and substantive changes have been incorporated resulting in an additional public review and comment period. The revisions include the addition of Section 10 - Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Dispatcher.
The second public review and comment period ended July 26, 2010. Comments have been reviewed and responded to by the Call Center Standards and Standards Development Committees resulting in a third public review and comment period proposing a few substantive changes.
The third public review and comment period is August 27 – September 26, 2010. The public review and comment period pertains to only those sections with proposed changes resulting from the previous review. Please review sections 7.4, 8.2.3, 9.2.3, and 10.2.3 for the proposed changes and submit any comments with suggested resolutions pertaining to those sections only by September 26, 2010.
