APCO Project 39

The Mystery Begins
The classic story begins in a fire station in
Oregon . Their communications equipment was failing...while in the station. Some form of localized interference was suspected. But, when the large overhead doors were closed, the interference was reduced and the equipment began working normally. Just the opposite of what was suspected. The interference was local, but not within the station. Someone noticed that a new communications tower was recently installed near by...

The Story Continues
The rest is now history, but the story is not finished. The new communications tower was part of a network of wireless commercial radio systems being deployed across the country.

As the public demand for commercial wireless services grows, so do the number of towers. And with each tower comes the threat of potential interference to public safety radio systems. Other reports have since come to light. It became obvious the potential for interference would grow. The highest level of response APCO provides for important issues is the Project series. Project 39 was created to address the issues and find both short and long-term solutions.
