Broadband Technology for Public Safety - News

Broadband is the most recent of the evolutionary changes affecting wireless communications supporting public safety. Broadband Wireless is capable of supporting a vast new range of mobile based communications capabilities and is being recognized as the future of mobile communications.

The FCC created the National Broadband Plan which is very broad in nature. Chapter 16 specifically refers to the development of broadband capability specifically for public safety.

The FCC Ninth Notice of Proposed Rulemaking provides the primary mechanism for the current FCC activities. - In the Matter of Implementing a nationwide, Broadband, Interoperable Public Safety Network in the 700 MHz Band. Development of Operational, Technical and Spectrum Requirements for Meeting Federal, State and Local Public Safety Communication.
