Wireless Microphone Use

The FCC issued an order today prohibiting wireless microphones and similar low power broadcast devices from operating in the 700 MHz band after June 12, 2010. The order also provides that public safety licensees in the band can, with 60 day notice, require wireless mic users to clear the band sooner than June 12. The FCC also reiterated that wireless mics causing interference must cease and desist immediately. Since we are already in mid-January, the 60-day notice may be of limited value (in paragraph 47 of the order). The notice process has two alternatives, notifying the FCC, or notifying users directly if you know who they are.
